holds Public Lecture on Materials: The Foundation and the
Fundamental Pillar of World Technological Civilization and
Economic Development
Covenant University’s 17th Public Lecture will critically
explore the impact of materials as critical elements in
engineering, especially their use and misuse as well as the
effect in the development of the country.
The lecture, titled, "Materials: The Foundation and the
Fundamental Pillar of World Technological Civilization and
Economic Development" will be delivered by a renowned
International Scholar and expert in Material Engineering,
Professor Cleophas Akintoye Loto, on Thursday, October 25,
2007 at the University Chapel by 3 pm.
Professor Loto is currently the Head, Department of
Mechanical Engineering, Covenant University. He has over 22
years postdoctoral teaching experience and has taught in
different Universities both locally and internationally,
including the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife;
University of Lagos, Lagos; Bayero University, Kano; and
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, where
he served as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
He is a member of a number of academic and professional
associations, including the Fellow, Institute of Materials;
member, Nigerian Society of Engineers; member, National
Association of Corrosion Engineering, U.S.A; member,
Institute of Corrosion Science and Technology, U.K., member,
Nigerian Metallurgical Societies etc.
Professor Loto has published widely in reputable outlets
across the continents of the world with more than 55
publications to his credit.
