ACADEMIC VACANCIES

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the under listed Academic staff positions in the Department of Mass Communication, College of Human Development.

VACANT POSITIONS:
Professor/Readers/Senior Lecturers in Mass Communication/Public Relations

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Candidates are required to possess appropriate skills and orientations for the discipline as well as possess teaching abilities with adequate research experience.

  1. Professor: Ph.D. degree with specialization in Mass Communication/Public Relations with evidence of academic leadership in terms of publications, research and administrative leadership etc. with at least 10 years of post qualification, full time relevant teaching and research experience.
  2. Associate Professor (Reader): Same as for Professors but with at least 8 years of post-qualification, full time, relevant teaching and research experience.
  3. Senior Lecturer: same as for professor but with at least 6 years of post-qualification, full time, relevant teaching and research experience.

Remuneration and Other Conditions of Service
Our total package is aimed at motivating faculty to being their best. The University goes to any length to offer a globally- competitive, career-fulfilling package. This package is offered on two platforms: salaried and non-salaried package as indicated below:

A. Salaried Packages
Professor: Salary ranges between CUSS 14b/1 and 14a/10 (N3.78m($27000) -N7.308m($52200) p.a.

Associate Professor: Salary ranges between CUSS 13/1 and 13/8 (N3.3m($23571.42)-N3.624m($25885.71) p.a.

Senior Lecturer: Salary ranges between CUSS 12/1 and 12/8 (N2.88m($20571.43)-N3.15m($22500) p.a.

B. Non-salaried Packages
Leading Scholars and Senior Academics are also implored to apply for engagement in the University taking due cognizance of the following non-salaried package available for them in Covenant University.

  1. Availability of short academic visits/sabbaticals of 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months etc for leading academic authorities for the purpose of consummating collaborative research and special investigations.
  2. Entitlement to SEED RESEARCH FUND of up to N2m per researcher for 'out-of-the-box’ academic exploit and initiatives as would be determined by relevance.
  3. Entitlements to overseas conference sponsorship twice a year for up to a maximum of N1m($7142.86)
  4. Benefit from capacity development programmes of the University including:
  • Institutional developmental consultancy services with financial benefits to contributors.
  • Institutionally powered cooperative society for property/assets acquisition.
  • Active support for capacity-developing institutional linkages.
  • Encouragement and support for staff development programme.
  • Establishment of a virile publishing house and quality print support outlet for staff publications (text books and journals
  • Activation of the positive tradition of Mentor-Mentees for acceleration of academic capacity development and institutional growth of the University through the University's Programme of attaching Research Assistants to Professors.
  • Distribution of recent catalogues/bibliographies of major publishing houses abroad and locally to all Departments/Faculty.
