The library is the academic ‘heart’ of any university. It is the ‘Life-blood’ of the university. It is one of the most essential academic units in the university. Libraries form a vital part of the world’s system of communication and education. Students, teachers, scholars, scientists, business executives, and government officials use library resources in their work. In the past, libraries were largely collections of books. This was in consonance with the word ‘Library’ which comes from the Latin word Libber, which means book. The picture of the library today is different. The contemporary library collects, organizes and disseminates information in various materials. These materials include audiocassette tapes, videotapes, motion pictures (films), magazines, journals, newspapers, pamphlets, computers, maps, pictures, etc.
The library in Covenant University is known as Centre for Learning Resources – the scope and depth of resources is greatly enlarged.
The objectives of the Centre for learning Resources include among others the following:
i. to provide the impetus to quality teaching and research in Covenant University through the provision of current books, journals and other library resources
