STUDIO PORTFOLIO
EXAMINATION
What is a Portfolio Examination?
This is an examination that considers all the studio
projects carried out by an individual student over
the semester. All the projects are examined
collectively and marks are awarded based on the
progress attained/recorded over time as manifested
in the quality of works carried out. A good school
of architecture drives its students into discovering
their latent abilities and developing them towards
architectural development.
Objectives:
The examination is aimed at assessing the combined
efforts of the students through out the semester,
determine and evaluate any appreciable
development/progress made by the student over the
semester. The examination is also aimed specifically
at each candidate’s ability to develop over time.
Where appreciable efforts are seen in a candidate,
his cumulative marks shall be upgraded based on the
progress recorded. When regrettably, a candidate
rather than progressing, seems to be deteriorating,
such candidate will not be marked down but be noted
for mentoring. In such cases, the candidate’s
original cumulative marks shall remain. Where a
student fails to show up for the examination, or
where some of the works are not fully available,
such a student shall be marked down, and may have to
repeat the class.
A portfolio examination is a medium of allowing the
poor or average student to demonstrate his ability
of convincing the faculty of his readiness to make
progress.
Form of Assessment:
There shall be a panel of examination to be set up
by the department. The students shall be distributed
to each panel for the examination.
All students in a class under examination must be
present at the beginning of the examination. Any
student who arrive late, MAY not be allowed to
present his portfolio for examination. Assessment of
the drawings shall be according to the following
criteria. |
