OUR PHILOSOPHY
Since English Language plays a multiplicity of roles in Nigeria, a good grounding in it is essential for anyone who has gone through a degree programme in a Department of English.

It is for this reason that our students in this Department are exposed to every aspect of the study of the English Language and Literature-in-English, at the phonological, morphological, lexical and syntactic levels. This course of study has been put in place to help the students to become well-rounded graduates of the English Language and Literature-in-English. They should be able to stand out anywhere they go before and after their graduation. In addition, the courses in creative writing should position them for the actualization of the potentials for creativity that lie within them and give them the confidence with which to go through life.
