DEGREE PROGRAMME

The academic degree programmes in the Department cover a period of four (4) years leading to the award of Bachelor of Science honours degree in the relevant area of specialisation. Students admitted into the various programmes within the Department are expected to possess higher than average proficiency in English, Economics, mathematics and computer application.

Developments of the requisite research skills in the general fields of management, Accounting, Financial management, Taxation, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Banking & Finance and Insurance is an essential part of the Department’s programme.
The Department does not entertain Direct entry or transfer candidates.

PROGRAMME SPECIALIZATION

The programmes of the Department of Accounting enable the would-be Accountants to obtain a general grounding in the Social Sciences and then in all aspects of Business Management, before settling down to concentrate on pure courses in the later years in their chosen area of specialisation. However, Accounting is however taken in all years beginning from first year.

In the last two years of studies, a student can elect to specialise in any of the following areas depending on his/her interest and intellectual ability.
